Why Have a Ceilidh?

A ceilidh (kaylee) and a barn dance are very similar in that there is a caller who describes the dances, gives prompts throughout the dances and helps keep people in time. Ceilidhs tend to be influenced by Scottish and Irish dances and tunes while barn dances tend to be more English and American country dancing. it is a fun and inclusive event for almost all ages and requires no dancing experience.  Many dances are ‘progressive’ which involves singles, pairs or groups of dancers changing dance partners.  This means that different family and friends groups get to meet when otherwise they might not do.

The Rosevilles Ceilidh Band

The Rosevilles are a ceilidh and barn dance band based in Redruth, Cornwall, available for events in Cornwall and Devon.  We aim to provide a lively, fun, friendly and memorable event with music and dancing suitable for weddings, birthdays, parties, community events and other special occasions.  We can also intersperse the dances with songs and/or tunes if it suits your event better

We usually perform as three musicians and a caller but can bring in additional musicians for a larger sound when required. John and Su can also perform as a duo or with Anna as a trio for smaller non-ceilidh events.
